Since September, I've been living solo in Manhattan. It's been surreal. I've always been quite independant but this is a whole new take on self-reliance. It's just me, myself and I here. It's exciting and scary at the same time. Why leave the comforts of home? Convenience and the need for change. The past year, let alone the past summer, have been crazy and filled with life altering events. I had to distance myself from chaos and focus on my own thing. So here I am.
Well, I've been MIA on Xanga but have returned! The past week was super hectic (but when isn't it?). Thursday I hit up a frat party with my girls. It was expecting it to be as good as the frat's prior party but it wasn't. Oh well, I made the best of it. Everything's better after a few drinks.
On Friday I had class and work. My job's in the heart of Chelsea so I got to see a bunch of crazy costumes and the crowds of people that gathered for the annual parade. I hit up another party with my sorority sisters over in Brooklyn Heights. I had so much fun and was happy to be with some of my MIA sisters who came out. Oh, and I actually dressed up. I went as a Hawaiian chick.
It was a bitch getting up on Saturday for work. I don't know how I made it through my shift. I went back home to JC and a bunch of my cousins came over. Mae, Danielle and I chilled and Esteban stopped by. Mae cooked and we chilled with the neighbors. As usual, it was a crazy (the cops were involved, enough said) but "jappy" night on Fifth Street.
I was fortunate to have the day off on Sunday (I work 7 days a week!) I went to Manhattan and met up with a girlfriend. We went to the Seaport for a little. It was so beautiful out. I stopped by Lisa's birthday party then headed back to JC for my Mom's own birthday party. Chilled with the neighbors again and called it a night.
Today was another lovely day and I spent the most of the day at the park here in NY. Tonight I plan to catch up on school work for the week and clean my apartment. Oh yeah.. and my agenda. Wish me luck. |
